Originally made in Flixel, Grace’s Diary is an entry for Jennifer Ann’s Group Love Life Game Design Contest 2010. It took the first place and was well-received by game reviewers and gamers. The game was recently ported to Android using Unity3D.
I made the game in two months. One and a half month was spent on researching dating violence issue, as well as reading experiences of the victims. The process of making this game educated me a lot and opened my eyes to an issue that I’ve never thought about.
For both Unity3D and Flash version, I wrote a Visual Novel script interpreter that will read in a script I wrote and play out like other VN engine. In Flash version, you can also execute any ActionScript from the script file. This is replaced by Lua in Unity3D. This option allow you to interact with the game system/object through script easily without recompiling the game.
